What Is Document Certification?
A certified copy is a photocopy of an original document that has been checked, stamped, and signed by an authorised person to confirm it is a true and accurate copy. You may need certified documents for:
- Visa and immigration applications
- Legal or solicitor proceedings
- University applications abroad
- Employment background checks or DBS applications
- Financial or banking requirements
What We Can Certify
We can certify copies of most standard documents, including:
- Passports (UK and international)
- Driving licences
- Birth, marriage, and death certificates
- Utility bills and bank statements
- Academic certificates and transcripts
- National Insurance documents
What to Bring
- 1The original document — we must see the original, not a copy
- 2A photocopy — we can copy documents in-branch if needed
- 3Payment — our certification fee is £5 per document
How It Works
- 1Bring the original and a photocopy to the counter
- 2We compare the copy to the original carefully
- 3We stamp and sign the copy with the date, confirming it is a true copy
- 4The certified copy is returned to you, ready to submit
Important Notes
- Some organisations require certification by a specific professional (such as a solicitor or notary public) — check with the requesting party before visiting
- We certify the copy only; your original document is returned to you immediately
- Multiple documents are certified individually
In-Branch ID Verification
We're also registered as an in-branch ID verification service — useful for DBS checks, savings account applications, and other processes requiring formal identity confirmation. The organisation requesting your check will advise which documents are required.
No Appointment Needed
Just walk in during opening hours at any of our branches. Certification typically takes less than five minutes per document.
