Renewing Your Photocard Driving Licence
UK photocard driving licences must be renewed every ten years. When your licence is close to its expiry date, the DVLA will typically send a reminder — but you can renew at any time before expiry. We process DVLA photocard renewals at the counter at all our branches. You don't need to create an online account or use the DVLA website.
What to Bring for a Licence Renewal
- Your current photocard driving licence
- A valid UK passport (or a certified passport-style photo if you don't have one)
- Your National Insurance number
- Payment of the DVLA renewal fee (currently £17)
We'll submit the application on your behalf. Your new licence typically arrives by post within two to three weeks. Your current licence remains valid until its expiry date in the meantime.
Paying Vehicle Tax
Your car, van, or motorbike requires valid vehicle tax to be driven on public roads. You can renew your vehicle tax at our counter without logging in to the DVLA website or using the phone service.
What to bring:
- Your V5C logbook (vehicle registration certificate), or the V11 renewal reminder letter from the DVLA
- A valid MOT certificate, if your vehicle requires one
- Proof of valid motor insurance
We'll process the renewal at the counter and you'll receive confirmation on the spot. Vehicle tax can be renewed up to two months before the current tax expires.
A Note on Timing
Driving without valid vehicle tax can result in an automatic penalty notice issued by DVLA cameras. Don't wait until the expiry date — renew early to avoid any gap in cover.
No Appointment Needed
Both services are walk-in only. Visit any of our branches during opening hours. Check our [branches page](/branches) for locations and times.
